Steering Knuckle: Installation

HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- INSTALL KNUCKLE GREASE RETAINER CAP LH (for 2WD)
- Using a brass bar and hammer, tap in a new retainer cap.
- INSTALL STEERING KNUCKLE OIL SEAL LH
- Using SST and a press, press in a new oil seal.
SST: 09950-60020 (09951-01030)
SST: 09950-70010 (09951-07100)
NOTE:- The oil seal is a non-reusable part.
- Do not damage the steering knuckle oil seal.
- Using SST and a press, press in a new oil seal.
- INSTALL STEERING KNUCKLE LH
- Install the front suspension upper arm to the steering knuckle with the nut.
Torque: 110 N*m (1,122 kgf*cm, 81 ft.*lbf)
- Install a new clip.
HINT:
If the holes for the clip are not aligned, tighten the nut up to another 60°.
- Install the front suspension upper arm to the steering knuckle with the nut.
- CONNECT FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ATTACHMENT LH (See INSTALLATION )
- CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
- Install the front axle hub (see REASSEMBLY ).
- CONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH
- Connect the front speed sensor to the steering knuckle with the bolt.
Torque: 11 N*m (107 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf)
- Attach the clip to the steering knuckle.
- Connect the front speed sensor to the steering knuckle with the bolt.
- INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque: for Aluminum Wheel
131 N*m (1336 kgf*cm, 97 ft.*lbf)
for Steel Wheel
209 N*m (2131 kgf*cm, 154 ft.*lbf)
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).
- CHECK SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
- Check the speed sensor signal (see TEST MODE PROCEDURE ).
- CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
- Check the SRS warning light (see DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).
- INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
- Inspect and adjust the front wheel alignment (see ADJUSTMENT ).
