Fuel Injector: Installation

  1. INSTALL FUEL INJECTOR 
    1. Install a new insulator onto each fuel injector.

    3. Apply a light coat of spindle oil or gasoline to each new O-ring and install one onto each fuel injector.
    4. Install the 6 injectors.
      1. While turning each fuel injector left and right, install it onto the fuel delivery pipe.
      2. Position the fuel injector connectors facing outward.

  2. INSTALL FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Place the fuel delivery pipe together with the 6 fuel injectors on the intake manifold.
    2. Temporarily install the 6 bolts, which are used to hold the fuel delivery pipe, onto the intake manifold.
    3. Check that the fuel injectors rotate smoothly.

      HINT:

      If the fuel injectors do not rotate smoothly, replace the O-ring of the injector that does not rotate smoothly.

    4. Position the fuel injector connectors facing outward.

    6. Tighten the 6 bolts, which are used to hold the fuel delivery pipe, to the intake manifold.

      Torque: 15 N*m (153 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf) 

    7. Connect the 6 fuel injector connectors.
  3. CONNECT NO. 2 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Push the tube connector into the pipe until the tube connector makes a "click" sound.

      NOTE:
      • Check if there is any damage or foreign objects on the connected part of the fuel pipe.
      • After connecting, check that the pipe and connector are securely connected by pulling them.
    2. Install the fuel pipe clamp.
  4. CONNECT NO. 1 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Push the tube connector into the pipe until the tube connector makes a "click" sound.

      NOTE:
      • Check if there is any damage or foreign objects on the connected part of the fuel pipe.
      • After connecting, check that the pipe and connector are securely connected by pulling them.
    2. Install the fuel pipe clamp.
  5. INSTALL INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK  (See INSTALLATION )
  6. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH ELEMENT  (See INSTALLATION )
  7. INSTALL AIR CLEANER HOSE  (See INSTALLATION )
  8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).
  9. ADD ENGINE COOLANT  (See REPLACEMENT )
  10. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAK 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and Techstream main switch ON.
      NOTE: Do not start the engine.
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the Fuel Pump / Speed.
    4. Check that there are no fuel leaks after doing maintenance anywhere on the fuel system.
  11. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAK  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  12. INSTALL V-BANK COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
  13. INSTALL FRONT COWL TOP OUTER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  14. INSTALL FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the front wiper motor and link (see INSTALLATION ).
  15. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
