Test A: Abs Works Frequently

  1. Check brake fluid pressure distribution. See TESTING in DISC & DRUM article. Repair as necessary, then perform PRELIMINARY CHECKS  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If brake fluid pressure distribution is okay, go to next step.
  2. Check wheel sensors and circuits. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE NO. 1  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. Repair as necessary. If wheel sensors and circuits are okay, go to next step.
  3. Check front and rear wheel bearing axial end play. Bearing end play should be zero. Repair as necessary. If wheel bearing end play is okay, go to next step.
  4. Road test vehicle and observe ABS warning light. If warning light stays off, system is okay. If warning light turns on, perform self-diagnostics. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
