Power Relay Test: Test

  1. Power Relay - Test

    Use this chart to identify the types of the relay, then do the test listed for it.

    Relay Test
    A/C compressor clutch relay Normally-open four-terminal type
    Active control engine mount (ACM) control relay (J35Y1 and J35Y2 engines)
    Blower motor relay
    Console accessory power socket relay (with console accessory power socket)
    Daytime running light relay (with daytime running light (LED type))
    Driver's seat heater relay (high) (with front seat heater)
    Electronic throttle control system (ETCS) control relay
    Fog light relay (with fog light)
    Front accessory power socket relay
    Front passenger's seat heater relay (high) (with front seat heater)
    Headlight relay
    Horn relay
    Ignition coil relay
    Injector relay (K24W1 engine)
    Interior lights cut relay
    Left rear seat heater relay (high) (with rear seat heater)
    PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN)
    PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP)
    PGM-FI subrelay
    Power mirror defogger relay (without keyless access system except Mexico models)
    Power window relay (4-door)
    Rear window defogger relay
    Right rear seat heater relay (high) (with rear seat heater)
    Brake light relay (with ACC) Five-terminal type
    Driver's seat heater relay (low) (with front seat heater)
    Front passenger's seat heater relay (low) (with front seat heater)
    Left rear seat heater relay (low) (with rear seat heater)
    Right rear seat heater relay (low) (with rear seat heater)
    NOTE: Carefully remove all relays using the special relay puller tool. Do not use pliers. Pliers will damage the relay.

    Normally-Open Four-Terminal Type 

    Check for continuity between the terminals:

    • There should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and No. 2 when battery power is connected to terminal No. 3, and battery ground is connected to terminal No. 4.
    • There should be no continuity between terminals No. 1 and No. 2 when battery power is disconnected.

    Five-Terminal Type 

    Check for continuity between the terminals:

    • There should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and No. 2 when battery power is connected to terminal No. 3, and battery ground is connected to terminal No. 5.
    • There should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and No. 4 when battery power is disconnected.
