Stall Speed Test: Test
- 1. Transmission Fluid Level - Check
- 2. HDS DLC - Connect
- 3. Engine - Warm Up
1. Start the engine, and warm it up to normal operating temperature (the radiator fan comes on twice).
- 4. CVT Stall Speed - Test
- 1. Apply the parking brake, and block all four wheels
- 2. Make sure the A/C switch is OFF
- 3. Shift the transmission to D position/mode while pressing the brake pedal firmly, then press the accelerator pedal for 6 to 8 seconds, and note the engine speed.
NOTE: Do not shift the transmission or remove your foot off the brake pedal, while raising the engine speed
- 4. Allow 2 minutes for cooling, then repeat the test in the all shift lever positions.
NOTE:
- Do not test stall speed for more than 10 seconds at a time.
- Record the engine speed at 6 to 8 seconds after pressing the accelerator pedal. Higher engine speed will be indicated for 5 seconds.
- Stall speed tests should be used for diagnostic purposes only.
- The stall speed should be the same in all positions/modes.
- Do not test stall speed with a pressure gauge installed.
Stall Speed rpm Specification: 2, 300 rpm Service Limit: 2, 150-2, 450 rpm 5. If any of the stall speeds are out of the service limit, refer to the problems and probable causes listed in the table.
Problem Probable Causes Stall speed rpm high - Forward clutch assembly defective
- Input shaft worn or damaged
- Reverse brake defective
- Transmission fluid pump worn, binding, or foreign material in transmission fluid pump
- Low transmission fluid level
- Transmission fluid deteriorated
- Main valve body defective
- Secondary valve body defective
- Linear solenoid valve body defective
- Clutch reducing valve body defective
- Lubrication pipe defective
- PCM defective
- Torque converter assembly defective
- Stator shaft defective
Stall speed rpm low - Main valve body defective
- Secondary valve body defective
- Linear solenoid valve body defective
- Clutch reducing valve body defective
- Lubrication pipe defective
- PCM defective
- Torque converter assembly defective
- Engine output low
- Stator shaft defective
