Shift Lever Removal

  1. Remove the center console (see CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
  2. Apply the parking brake, and move the shift lever to N (A).

  3. Remove the nut (B) securing the shift cable end (C).
  4. Rotate the socket holder (A) on the shift cable (B) counterclockwise (C) a quarter turn; the corner (D) on the socket holder will be in the opening (E) of the shift lever bracket base (F). Then slide the socket holder to remove the shift cable from the shift lever bracket base. Do not remove the shift cable by pulling the shift cable guide (G).

  5. Remove the harness clamp (A) from the shift lever bracket base (B), and disconnect the park pin switch/shift lock solenoid/A/T gear position indicator panel light 6P connector (C).

  6. Remove the bolts (D) and the shift lever assembly (E).
