Center Console Removal/Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repair or service.
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the seat, the dashboard, or the related parts.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
- M/T model: Remove the shift lever trim (see SHIFT LEVER HOUSING REPLACEMENT ).
- CVT model: Insert the appropriate trim tool to the groove (A) at front of the A/T gear position indicator panel trim (B) to detach the clips (C), then remove the A/T gear position indicator panel trim.
- Remove the center console panel (A).
- Pry up on the rear edge of the center console panel with the appropriate trim tool to detach the clips (B).
- Insert the appropriate trim tool in the groove at front of the center console panel to detach the clips (C).
- Remove the dashboard center lower trim (see DASHBOARD CENTER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the center console lid (A).
- Remove the front console mat (B).
- Insert the appropriate trim tool into the notch (C) of the center console lid to detach the hooks (D).
- With seat heater: Disconnect the seat heater switch subharness connector (A).
- Pry up on the rear edge of the parking brake cover lid (A) to detach the hooks (B), then remove it.
- Remove the center console (A).
- Slide both seats forward fully.
- Remove the screws (B, C), and detach the clips (D).
- Pry up the rear portion of the center console to detach the clip (E).
- Pull out the front portion of the center console from the dashboard.
- If necessary, detach the harness clips (A) and remove the bolts, then remove the center console bracket (B).
- Install the console in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new once.
- Push the clips and the hooks into place securely.
- Make sure the wire harness is not pinched.
- Make sure each connector is plugged in properly.
