Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove distributor cap. See Figure. Mark distributor-to-engine position and distributor rotor-to-distributor housing position for installation reference. Disconnect distributor harness connector and remove 2 hold-down bolts. Remove distributor.
  2. DO NOT rotate crankshaft with distributor removed, or reference marks will be incorrect. To install distributor, use reference marks and reverse removal procedure. Install mounting bolts. Do not fully tighten mounting bolts until timing is reset. See procedures under IGNITION TIMING in the ADJUSTMENTS article. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
