Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
- Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
- Remove the radiator inlet hose - LCV radiator to inlet pipe. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LCV Radiator to Inlet Pipe)Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LCV Inlet Pipe to Water Outlet) 0.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Reposition the engine front splash shield. Refer to Engine Front Splash Shield Replacement .
- Unclip and reposition the electrical harnesses as necessary.
- Remove the right front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (without ZR2)Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (with ZR2) .
- Remove the underbody splash shield. Refer to Underbody Splash Shield Replacement (without ZR2)Underbody Splash Shield Replacement (with ZR2) .
- Remove the steering gear skid shield. Refer to Steering Gear Skid Shield Replacement (without ZR2)Steering Gear Skid Shield Replacement (with ZR2) .
- Slide the protective boot (3) away from the generator stud and remove the battery positive cable fastener (1).
- Remove the battery positive cable (2) from the generator stud.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Disconnect the throttle body connector (1) and release the throttle body harness retainer (2) from the engine harness bracket above the generator.
- Release the engine harness retainer (3) from the engine harness bracket and reposition harness.
- Disconnect the engine harness connector (1) from the generator.
- Remove the generator mounting bolts (1) and the engine harness bracket (2).
- Remove the generator mounting nut (3) and stud (4), if necessary.
- Remove the generator (5) from the engine compartment.
