Trouble Shooting
Verify customer's concern by operating speed control system. Verify speedometer operates correctly by driving the vehicle. Verify stoplamps operate correctly by depressing brake pedal. Verify horns operate correctly by depressing horn switch. Visually inspect Cruise Control System(CCS) components for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Components include the following:
Electrical components:
- Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch.
- Central Junction Box (CJB).
- Deactivator switch.
- Fuses: No. 217 (15-amp), No. 227 (10-amp) and No. 232 (10-amp).
- Cruise indicator light.
- Loose or corroded connections.
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Speed control actuator switches.
- Speed control servo.
- Wiring harness.
Mechanical components:
- Speed control actuator cable.
- Throttle linkage.
If faultexists, repair as necessary. If fault is not visually evident, perform self-diagnostics. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM .
