Pinpoint Test B - Remote Entry System Diagnosis
- Ensure battery is fully charged. Ensure all remote transmitters lock then unlock doors. If all remote transmitters do not work, go to next step. If only one remote transmitter does not work, go to PINPOINT TEST A .
- Ensure shorting plug is not inserted into program connector (located below driver's side of instrument panel at base of steering column.) If shorting plug does not exist, go to next step. If shorting plug exists, remove and go to PINPOINT TEST A .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect door lock control module connectors. Using ohmmeter, check for continuity between White/Yellow wire terminal of door lock control module connector and ground. If no continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short-to-ground in White/Yellow wire.
- Disconnect battery. Check for continuity between White/Yellow wire of door lock control module connector and positive battery cable. If no continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair White/Yellow wire for short-to-power.
- Check for continuity between Gray/Yellow wire terminal of door lock control module connector and ground. If no continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short-to-ground in Gray/Yellow wire.
- Check for continuity between Gray/Yellow wire terminal of door lock control module connector and positive battery cable. If no continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair Gray/Yellow wire for short-to-power.
- Reconnect door lock control module connectors and battery cable. Measure voltage of White/Yellow wire between door lock control module connector and ground. If voltage is between 5 and 9 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, replace door lock control module.
- Measure resistance of Gray/Yellow wire between door lock control module connector and ground. If resistance is between 4 k/ohms and 5 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace door lock control module.
- Measure voltage of White/Yellow wire between program connector and ground. If voltage is between 5 and 9 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, repair open in White/Yellow wire.
- Measure resistance of Gray/Yellow wire between program connector and ground. If resistance is between 4 k/ohms and 5 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair open in Gray/Yellow wire.
- Turn ignition on. Insert a shorting plug into program connector. If doors lock then unlock, go to next step. If doors do not lock then unlock, go to step 3).
- Press any button on remote transmitter at least 3 times. Repeat for each remote transmitter. If doors lock then unlock using each remote transmitter, go to next step. If remote transmitter(s) do not lock then unlock doors, replace transmitter batteries and repeat step. If transmitter(s) still do not operate, replace door lock control module.
- Turn ignition off. Remove shorting plug from program connector. If doors lock then unlock, perform PINPOINT TEST A steps 3) through 9). If doors do not lock then unlock, replace door lock control module. Retest system.
