Pinpoint Test A - Remote Transmitter Diagnosis
- Turn ignition off. Check 50-amp fuse in engine compartment fuse box. Check 15-amp fuse in passenger compartment fuse box. If fuse(s) are blown, go to next step. If fuses are okay, go to step 4).
- Replace blown fuse(s). Turn ignition on. If fuse(s) blow, go to next step. If fuse(s) do not blow, go to step 4).
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Black door lock control module connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance of White/Purple wire between 20-amp fuse connector in passenger compartment fuse box and ground. Measure resistance of Light Green/Yellow wire between 15-amp fuse connector in passenger compartment fuse box and ground. Measure resistance of Yellow/Black wire between 50-amp fuse connector in engine compartment fuse box and ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace blown fuse(s) and go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair affected wire.
- Reconnect door lock control module. Reprogram remote transmitters. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING. If remote transmitter does not lock then unlock doors, go to next step. If remote transmitter locks then unlocks doors, system is functioning normally at this time.
- Replace remote transmitter batteries. Program remote transmitter. If remote transmitter does not lock then unlock doors, go to next step. If remote transmitter locks then unlocks doors, system is functioning normally.
- Use known good remote transmitter and reprogram. If remote transmitter does not lock then unlock doors, go to next step. If remote transmitter locks then unlocks doors, replace remote transmitter.
- Disconnect Black door lock control module connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between White/Purple, Yellow/Black, and Light Green/Yellow wires at door lock control module connector and ground. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair affected wire.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Gray door lock control module connector. Measure resistance of Back wire between Gray connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Black wire.
- If problem exists only during extreme weather conditions, replace door lock control module and retest. If problem exists at all times, lubricate or repair binding condition in door lock system and retest.
