Diagnostic Test
- CHECK IF DTC IS CURRENT
- Using the scan tool, read EVCU DTCs.
- Record the Environmental Data and any DTCs.
- Clear DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- Read EVCU DTCs.
Did the DTC reset?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK THE BPCM DTCS
- Check the BPCM for DTCs.
Were there any BPCM DTCs?
Yes
- Refer to the DTC INDEX - 500E and perform the appropriate diagnostic.
No
- Go To 3
- Check the BPCM for DTCs.
- CHECK THE HYBRID/EV BATTERY PACK COOLANT SYSTEM
- Check the Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Cooling System for low coolant level. Refer to HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY COOLING AND HEATING SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Check the Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Cooling System for coolant contamination.
- Check the Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Cooling Valves for proper operation. Refer to CHILLER, BATTERY COOLANT (BCC), OPERATION .
- Check the Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Cooling Pump for proper operation. Refer to PUMP, BATTERY COOLANT, OPERATION .
- Check the Electric A/C Compressor (EAC) for proper operation. Refer to COMPRESSOR, ELECTRIC AIR CONDITIONING (EAC), DESCRIPTION .
- Check the A/C for proper charge. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE

Was any of the above problems found in the Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Cooling System?
Yes
- Repair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) pins, terminals, and connectors for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace and program the EVCU in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to UNIT, ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL (EVCU), REMOVAL .
- Perform the EVCU VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
