Initial Installation - LHD

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2025 Jeep Compass. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
NOTE: Before starting the installation procedure, check that the control module is compatible with the vehicle model on which it will be installed.
Carefully follow the instructions on positioning and securing the control module described in this procedure. Failure to respect indications may lead to incorrect system operation.
  2. Remove the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Release the lower B pillar trim and move it aside without removing it. Refer to PANEL, B-PILLAR TRIM, LOWER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Make a note or take a photo of the data on the label (1) at the rear of the module. This data is necessary for the test procedure at the end of the installation.

  10. Position the T-box module (1) on the internal dashboard bracket and turn it to the horizontal position with the wiring facing downwards.
NOTE: Take care to position the cable ties so that they DO NOT pass over the innermost metal bracket.

  13. Position the T-box relay holder slide (1) (provided in the kit) on the hole in the internal bracket and secure it using the screw with the specific nut and two washers (provided in the kit).
NOTE: Position the relay holder slide horizontally.

  17. Insert the T-box ground lead into the wiring retainers (1a) and close them, then position the T-box harness earth ring (1b) on the earth pin over any existent wiring and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  18. If there are previously removed wires connected to the ground stud, be careful to insert the earth wire of the T-Box harness so that it is offset correctly (1) by at least 45° with respect to the previous ones. Do NOT  stack the ring terminals (2).

  19. Disconnect the electrical connector C3 (1) from the Body Control Module (BCM), and remove the inner connection covering block.

  20. Locate pin 1 (+50) (red/green cable cross section 2.5 mm) on the connector, then cut and remove the sheathing of the car wiring.
NOTE: Take great care not to get the cables to be joined dirty as this will adversely affect the continuity of the electrical conduction. While heating the thermal shrinking tubs, as a result of the high temperatures reached, the drier and the heat shield must not, under any circumstances, come into contact with cladding parts or other components.

  21. Fit the thermal shrinking connection tubes (1) onto the two sets of cables within the wiring.
  22. Use an air heater (2a) with heat shield (2b) to heat the thermal shrinking tubes (2c) until the ring of solder melts; then wait for it to cool.
NOTE: The air heater (drier) used in this procedure is commercially available.
NOTE: Apply insulating tape to the two wires individually and then combine the wires with the main wiring and tape again to create a more compact bundle.
NOTE: Fuse F36 is the third from the top (blue) in the right- hand row in the Body Computer.
  23. Remove fuse F36 (1) from the Body computer and fit it into the turret fuse-holder of the T-box harness.

  24. Connect the connector of the new T-box harness (with twin fuse) (1) in the position previously occupied by fuse F36 of the Body Computer.
NOTE: Fuse F51 is the fourth one from the bottom (red) in the left-hand row in the Body Computer.

  25. Remove fuse F51 (+15) from the Body computer and fit it into the turret fuse-holder of the T-box harness.
  26. Connect the connector of the T-box harness (with twin fuse) (1) in the position previously occupied by fuse F51 of the Body Computer.
  27. Disconnect the electrical connector C6 (1) from the BCM.
NOTE: When done, restore the connector wiring with a new tie.

  30. Use the two signal taps (2) (cross section area 0.35 mm) to bypass the two existing CAN H (blue) and CAN L (white) wires and the corresponding loose wires in the module harness.
NOTE: When done, restore the connector wiring with a new cable tie.
  31. Connect the door opening signal wire (green) of the new T-box harness to the pin 11 position (2) and replace the internal connection cover block.
NOTE: Be sure on the next step to interrupt the cable at a distance of 150-200mm from the connector to be able to completely cover the work performed with new tape.
NOTE: Tape should be applied to the bundle of cables to increase its compactness.
NOTE: Position the module wiring as far as possible from metal body parts with sharp edges so that it does not interfere when subsequently removing the interior fittings from the vehicle in preparation for installation.

  33. Install the lower B pillar trim. Refer to PANEL, B-PILLAR TRIM, LOWER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  34. Install the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
NOTE: Using the scan tool, select the "Connected Services " tab, select "Mopar Connect" and choose "Test-Operation check" option. Start a new test and complete steps 2 and 3 of the "Test App" manual (which can be downloaded from the Help section).
  35. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
NOTE: Complete the test procedure to check that the installation is operating correctly (to resume a previously suspended procedure, see step 9 of the "Test App" manual). To access the Test procedure, connect to the scan tool, select the "Connected Services" tab, select "MOPAR Connect" and choose the "Test- Operation check" option.
  36. On completion of installation of the T-box module, connect the diagnosis instrument to the car's OBD socket, locate the BCM module and check for errors.
