Exterior Handle: Installation

Place outside handle bracket assembly onto outer door panel.
Tighten screws attaching outside handle assembly and outside handle bracket to outer door panel. Tighten to 4 N.m (37 in. lbs.) torque.
Install outside door handle and cover assembly into the outer door panel by inserting the pivot leg of the handle into the front access hole (Figure ) and (Fig 1 ). While inserting the handle pivot leg, move rear of handle towards the outer panel until it makes contact. Push forward on handle until it snaps into position.
Install screw attaching outside door handle cover to outside handle bracket (Figure ).
Engage clip attaching door lock linkage to outside door handle.
CAUTION: Do not remove key position switch wire connect from the key cylinder it will damage connection and will have to be replaced.
Engage clip attaching door latch linkage to outer door handle (Figure ).
Engage push in fasteners attaching key position switch harness to latch assembly, if equipped.
Through access hole at rear of inner door panel, connect key cylinder position switch connector to door harness, if equipped (Figure ).
Check outside handle for proper operation.
Install the watershield as necessary to gain access to the outside door handle. (Refer to REMOVAL ).
Install door trim panel. (Refer to REMOVAL ).
