Park/Neutral Switch

Park/Neutral switch may also be referred to as transmission range sensor or transmission range switch. see Fig 1 . Park/Neutral switch prevents engine starter from engaging if vehicle is in any gear except Park or Neutral. Park/Neutral switch input to Powertrain control module (varied with gear selection) is used to determine idle speed, fuel injector pulse and ignition timing.
