No Communication With Engine Control Module/Powertrain Control Module: Testing

  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK position. Locate Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM). See Figure. Check ECM connector C-122 or PCM connector C-119 for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. See Figure or Figure . If connections are okay, go to next step. If faulty connections are found, repair as necessary.
  2. Check intermediate connectors C-140 and C-25. Repair or replace if necessary. Check for open or short to ground and harness connector C-26 terminal No. 7, and ECM connector C-122 terminal No. 85 or PCM connector C-119 terminal No. 85. If wire harness is not in good condition, repair it. Recheck communication.
