Key ID Registration (With Scan Tool)

NOTE: To register additional keys with the scan tool, no registered keys must be lost.

Additional keys can be registered with the scan tool while keeping all existing key data.

Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure.
Turn the ignition switch to ON position.
At SYSTEM SELECT press YES.
Select IMMOBILIZER and press YES.
Select SPECIAL FUNC and press YES. If DTC 11 is set, scan tool will display CAN'T EXECUTE. If CAN'T EXECUTE is not displayed, go to next step. If CAN'T EXECUTE is displayed, go to DTC NO. 11: TRANSPONDER COMMUNICATION SYSTEM OR RADIO INTERFERENCE OF ENCRYPTED CODE under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS in ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - SEBRING COUPE & STRATUS COUPE article.
Select ADD KEY ID REG and press YES.
Press the YES key to start key ID registration.
This will be displayed when the add key ID registration is successful. If an error occurs during key ID registration, the message CAN'T EXECUTE will be displayed. If the key has already been registered, KEY ID HAS BEEN REGISTERED will be displayed.

NOTE: A maximum of 8 different keys can be registered.

The number of keys currently registered will be displayed. To register an additional key, replace the ignition key with the next key to be registered within 5 seconds and then press the YES key. Key ID registration screen will be displayed, then register another key. If key ID registration is complete, press the NO key.
This completes the registration operation. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK and leave it off for approximately 10 seconds.
Check that the engine can be started with each of the ignition keys.
Check that the immobilizer system DTC and MFI system DTC did not set.
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
Disconnect the scan tool.
