Fuel Level Sensor: Removal

  1. Fuel level sensor is mounted on fuel pump module. See Fig 1. Remove fuel pump module. See FUEL PUMP MODULE . Depress retaining tab, and disconnect harness connector for fuel pump and fuel level sensor from fuel pump module harness connector. See Fig 2.
    CAUTION: Note location of wires in harness connector for fuel pump and fuel level sensor for installation reference. Wires must be installed in correct location.
  2. Remove wire terminal retaining clip from connector. See Fig 1. Mark wire location in harness connector for fuel pump and fuel level sensor for installation reference. Wires for fuel level sensor must be removed from harness connector for fuel pump and fuel level sensor. See Fig 2.
  3. Using Terminal Remover (7812), remove wires for fuel level sensor from harness connector. Using screwdriver, pry between fuel pump module and top of fuel level sensor to release fuel level sensor from fuel pump module. Slightly push fuel level sensor downward, toward bottom of fuel pump module.
  4. Slide wires for fuel level sensor through small pipe on inside of fuel pump module. Slide fuel level sensor from channel on fuel pump module.
