Powertrain Verification Test VER-2
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan and 2001 Chrysler Town & Country. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
If Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has been replaced and correct VIN and mileage have not been programmed, a DTC/fault message will be set in ABS and air bag modules.
NOTE:
If vehicle is equipped with Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS), secret key data must be updated. Obtain secret key data code from vehicle owner before updating Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) information.
- Inspect vehicle to ensure all engine components are properly installed and connected. Reassemble and reconnect components as necessary.
- Connect DRBIII® or scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using scan tool, clear DTC/fault messages and reset memory of all engine values.
- Run engine for one warm-up cycle, to verify proper engine operation. Road test vehicle. Operate all accessories which are related to repair.
- Using scan tool, verify no DTC/fault messages have been set, and verify that no secondary indicators are present. Ensure all related vehicle components are operating properly or as designed. If this verification test is being performed after a non-DTC/fault message related repair, verify symptom is no longer present.
- If the symptom or DTC/fault message still exists, or any other symptom or the DTC/fault message is present, perform appropriate test procedure for corresponding DTC/fault message present. Check for any related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) that may apply. If no DTC/fault message or symptoms are present, repair is complete.
