A/C Compressor
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan and 2001 Chrysler Town & Country. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Two compressors are used on this vehicle, depending upon type or size of A/C system used. Both compressors are Nippondenso 10S20H model compressor, and are belt driven by engine. A/C compressor belt tension is not adjustable, and is regulated by automatic belt tensioner. A/C compressor is engaged by electromagnetic clutch coil, pulley and clutch. Compressor is lubricated by refrigerant oil circulating within refrigerant system. Compressor draws in low-pressure refrigerant vapor from receiver dryer, compresses vapor and discharges it as high-pressure refrigerant vapor to condenser. Compressors cannot be serviced, and if faulty or damaged, entire compressor must be replaced.
