Front HVAC Unit: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan and 2001 Chrysler Town & Country. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Front housing for Heater, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) is located under instrument panel from center on passenger side of vehicle. Front HVAC unit operation is controlled by ATC module, and is dependent upon ATC control panel settings. Front HVAC unit contains a blower motor, evaporator core, heater core, driver blend door, passenger blend door, mode control door, recirculation door and door actuator motors and linkages.

Front ATC control panel is also equipped with A/C button switch to engage A/C compressor manually. When A/C compressor is engaged, manually or by ATC module, a snowflake icon in ATC control panel Vacuum Fluorescent (VF) display window is illuminated. Recirculation switch on ATC control panel opens or closes recirculated air mode door. Recirculated icon will appear in VF display during recirculated air mode, in manual or automatic operation. Recirculated door allows operator to select between recirculated or outside air to enter vehicle cabin.
