Trunk Release Relay Test
NOTE:
Trunk release relay connector terminal numbers are numbered differently in this test than in wiring diagram. SeeTRUNK RELEASE RELAY TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION
table.
- Remove trunk release relay. Relay is located on right side of brake pedal mounting bracket, behind courtesy light relay. Using an ohmmeter, check relay continuity. See Figure . Continuity should exist between relay terminals No. 30 and 87A. Continuity should not exist between relay terminals No. 30 and 87. Replace relay if necessary. If continuity is as specified, go to next step.
- Check resistance between relay terminals No. 85 and 86. If resistance is 70-80 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace relay.
- Connect 12-volt power source to relay terminal No. 86, and ground terminal No. 85. Continuity should exist between terminals No. 30 and 87. No continuity should exist between terminals No. 30 and 87A. If continuity is not as specified, replace relay. If continuity is as specified, relay is okay. Go to TRUNK RELEASE RELAY CIRCUIT TEST under CIRCUIT TESTS.
