CMTC Test 2A - Compass/Mini-Trip Computer Displaying "SC"
NOTE:
Perform CMTC TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
and WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
after each repair.
NOTE:
For CMTC wiring diagram, see INSTRUMENT PANEL article in the ACCESSORIES & ELECTRICAL section.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Disconnect ambient temperature/battery temperature sensor connector. Sensor is located behind front bumper (right center). Observe CMTC display. If CMTC displays OC, replace ambient temperature sensor. If CMTC does not display OC, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Using external ohmmeter mode, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Violet/Light Green wire) on ambient temperature/battery temperature sensor connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Violet/Light Green wire between PCM and ambient temperature sensor for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ambient temperature/battery temperature sensor connector terminals. If resistance is less than 1000 ohms, repair Violet/Light Green wire for short to Black/Light Blue wire. If resistance is 1000 ohms or greater, replace CMTC module.
