Test 6C - Repairing Key In Ignition Circuit
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Disconnect ignition switch connector. See Fig 1 . Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of ignition switch connector terminal No. 4 (Black wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between ignition switch connector terminals No. 4 (Black wire) and No. 6 (Light Blue wire). Using DRB, read key in ignition switch status. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN CLOSED, replace ignition switch. If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN CLOSED, go to next step.
- With connectors connected, connect jumper wire from Body Control Module (BCM) connector terminal No. 20 (Light Blue wire) and ground. Using DRB, read key in ignition switch status. If DRB displays KEY IN IGN CLOSED, repair open Light Blue wire. If DRB does not display KEY IN IGN CLOSED, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect BCM Bone connector. Inspect BCM connector terminals. If any terminals are damaged, repair connector as necessary. If terminals are okay, replace the BCM.
