Installation Procedure

    Steering Column (1) @ Vehicle - Install

    Steering Column Lower Support Bracket Bolt (1) - Hand tighten [2x]

    Electrical Connector (1) - Connect [2x]

  4. Swing up the steering column to the correct position.

    Steering Column Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Steering Column Lower Support Bracket Bolt (1) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Vehicle - Install

  8. NOTE:

    The recess of the fine tooth in the universal joint have to be precisely aligned to the recess of the fine tooth on the steering column shaft. The bore in the universal joint have to be aligned to the groove on the steering column shaft.

  9. Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Steering Column Shaft - Connect
  10. Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    NOTE:

    The recess of the fine tooth in the universal joint have to be precisely aligned to the recess of the fine tooth on the steering gear pinion. The bore in the universal joint have to be aligned to the groove on the steering gear pinion.

    Intermediate Steering Shaft (3) @ Steering Gear Pinion Shaft - Connect

  12. Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications 
  13. Intermediate Steering Shaft Middle Bolt (1) - Tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Deflector (2) - Install

  15. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Floor Front Air Outlet Duct - Left Side (2) - Install

  17. Front Floor Console Rear Air Duct Retainer (1) - Install

    Instrument Panel Knee Bolster (1) - Install

    Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

    Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle (1) @ Instrument Panel Knee Bolster - Install

    Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover - Left Side (1) - Install

    Turn Signal Switch Bracket (1) - Install

    Turn Signal Switch (1) @ Turn Signal Switch Bracket - Install

  24. Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch (2) @ Turn Signal Switch Bracket - Install
  25. Secure the retaining tabs.

    Ensure the steering wheel airbag coil (1) is CENTERED during installation. Steering Wheel Airbag Coil Centering

  27. Steering Wheel Airbag Coil (1) - Install
  28. Connect the electrical connector.

    Steering Wheel (2) - Install

  30. If a NEW threaded component is being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded component is reused, prepare the threaded component using the following steps:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
    4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (except GMNA) , or Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (GMNA) 
  31. Connect the electrical connector.
  32. Steering Wheel Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Connect the electrical connector.

  34. Install any connector position assurance (CPA) devices or secondary locks.
  35. Steering Wheel Airbag (2) - Install
  36. Steering Wheel Airbag Bolt (1) Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    NOTE:

    Left side shown, right side similar.

    Install the 2 steering wheel airbag access hole covers (1).

    Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover (2) - Install

  39. Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

    Secure the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover (1) to the instrument panel steering column lower trim cover in the opposite direction of the arrow.

  41. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
  42. Program the electronic power steering control module. Control Module References
  43. Calibrate the steering angle sensor. Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Centering
