Retained Accessory Power Diagnostic System Check

  1. If Body Control Module (BCM) diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If BCM diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform BODY CONTROL MODULE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  2. Check courtesy lights for proper operation. If courtesy lights operate properly, go to next step. If courtesy lights do not operate properly, perform LIGHTING DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  .
  3. If BCM displays any DTCs, go to next step. If BCM does not display any DTCs, go to step  5 .
  4. If BCM displays DTC 4, repair Retained Accessory Power (RAP) system by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS. If BCM does not display DTC 4, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See BODY CONTROL MODULE DTC INDEX  table under ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS.
  5. Close all vehicle doors. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, with engine off. Operate power windows. If power windows operate, go to next step. If power windows do not operate, repair power window system by symptom. See appropriate POWER WINDOWS article.
  6. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Operate power windows. If power windows operate for about 3 minutes on vehicles with less than 15 miles travelled or about 10 minutes on vehicles with more than 15 miles travelled, go to next step. If power windows do not operate, as specified, repair RAP system by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.
  7. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, with engine off for 10 seconds. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Operate power windows while opening a vehicle door. If power windows do not stop operating when door is opened, repair RAP system by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS. If power windows stop operating when door is opened, system is okay.
