Anti-Lock Brake System Diagnostic System Check
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure . DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, see TEST B: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using scan tool, attempt to communicate with Body Control Module (BCM), Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If scan tool communicates with BCM, EBCM and PCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, EBCM and PCM, see TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Select DISPLAY DTCS function on scan tool for BCM, EBCM and PCM. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, repair by symptom. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
- If scan tool displays any DTCs which begin with a "U", see TEST A: SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS. If scan tool does not display any DTCs which begin with a "U", go to next step.
- If scan tool displays DTC B1000, perform DTC B1000: BODY CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTION under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If scan tool does not display DTC B1000, go to next step.
- If scan tool displays DTC P0560 or P0620, go to GENERATORS & REGULATORS - "J", "N" & "W" BODIES article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. If scan tool does not display DTC P0560 or P0620, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
