Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor

On engines with a distributor, CMP is located within the distributor. If the CMP fails, the distributor must be replaced as the distributor is unrepairable. See Fig 1. On engines with distributorless ignition, CMP is located in the engine block adjacent to cam. See Fig 2.
