Diagnostic Procedures
- Perform powertrain diagnostic system check. See POWERTRAIN DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK . After performing powertrain diagnostic system check, go to next step.
- Operate vehicle within code enable criteria. Using scan tool, monitor SPECIFIC DTC INFO for DTC P1134 until DTC test runs. If scan tool indicates DTC failed this ignition cycle, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate DTC failed this ignition cycle, see INTERMITTENT TROUBLE CODE DETERMINATION under ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Inspect exhaust system for leaks. If problem was found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 10. If problem was not found, go to next step.
- Inspect for an improperly-installed HO2S 1, corrosion on terminals, incorrect terminal tension at HO2S 1 and at PCM, and damaged wiring. If problem was found, repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 10. If problem was not found, go to next step.
- Disconnect HO2S 1. See Figure or Figure . Connect jumper wire between HO2S connector terminal "A" (Tan wire) and ground. See Figure. Using scan tool, observe HO2S 1 voltage. If voltage is about 450 millivolts, go to next step. If voltage is not about 450 millivolts, go to step 8.
- Connect jumper wire between HO2S connector terminal "A" (Tan wire) and ground. Connect jumper wire between HO2S connector terminal "B" (Purple wire) and ground. Using scan tool, observe HO2S 1 voltage. If scan tool indicates voltage is less than 300 millivolts, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate voltage is less than 300 millivolts, go to step 9.
- Determine cause of contamination before replacing sensor. Replace HO2S sensor. After repairs, go to step 10.
- Repair open in Tan wire between HO2S and PCM. After repairs, go to step 10.
- Repair open in Purple wire between HO2S and PCM. After repairs, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition off for 30 seconds. Start engine. Operate vehicle within code enable criteria. If DTC runs and passes, go to next step. If DTC does not run and pass, go to step 2.
- Using scan tool, observe stored information. If scan tool displays any DTCs that have not been diagnosed, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If scan tool does not display any DTCs, system is okay.
NOTE:
If any DTCs are set except P1133, perform those diagnostics first. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
