DTC B3267: Deck Lid Relay Output Open/Short To Ground: Testing

  1. If body rear end diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If body rear end diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform body rear end diagnostic system check. See BODY REAR END SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe REAR COMPARTMENT LID RELEASE RELAY CONTROL parameter in BCM INPUT DATA list. If scan tool displays INACTIVE, go to next step. If scan tool does not display INACTIVE, go to step  4 .
  3. Press deck release switch. Using scan tool, observe REAR COMPARTMENT LID RELEASE RELAY CONTROL parameter in BCM INPUT DATA list. If scan tool display does not change state, go to next step. If scan tool display changes state, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect deck lid release relay harness connector. Deck lid release relay is located behind glove box, mounted to cross-car beam. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe REAR COMPARTMENT LID RELEASE RELAY CONTROL parameter in BCM INPUT DATA list. If scan tool displays INACTIVE, go to next step. If scan tool does not display INACTIVE, go to step  7 .
  5. Test Black/White wire between instrument panel fuse block and deck lid release relay harness connector for short to ground. If short to ground is not found, go to next step. If short to ground is found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  9 .
  6. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Check for poor connections at Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind left side of instrument panel, to left of steering column. See Figure . If poor connections are not found, go to step  8 . If poor connections are found, repair as necessary. After repair, go to step  9 .
  7. Replace deck lid release relay. After repair, go to step  9 .
  8. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
  9. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect any disconnected components and harness connectors. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle within CODE ENABLE CRITERIA  conditions. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTC B3267 resets, go to  2 . If DTC 3267 does not reset, system is okay.
