Anti-Lock Brake System With Traction Control: Diagnosis: Notes

NOTE: ABS/TCS fault codes may also be referred to as ABS Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) has self-diagnostic capability, which can detect system failures. Fault codes stored by EBCM can be displayed using Tech 1 scan tool.

Begin ABS/TCS system diagnosis with PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION  . If failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, perform necessary repairs, and then proceed with ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. The ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK will either indicate ABS/TCS system is functioning properly or direct the technician to appropriate diagnostic procedures such as diagnostic tests, symptom diagnosis or BRAKE warning light diagnosis.
