The SMG comprises the following functions:

• Engine start
• Gearshift
• Driving in gear lever position "D" (automatic mode)
• Launch control (acceleration assist system)
• Rock free, e.g. from snow
• Vehicle standstill
• Gear lever position neutral and ignition off
