32 32 001 Replacing complete steering lock

Remove upper steering spindle bearing, refer to 32 31 151 REPLACING UPPER STEERING SPINDLE BEARING .

Remove upper section of steering column trim, refer to 32 31 003 REPLACING UPPER SECTION OF STEERING COLUMN TRIM .

Remove ring antenna.

Remove bracket for switches (indicators/wipers).

If necessary, remove cable for Interlock.

Unfasten screw and lift off bracket for wiring harness.

Unlock connector from ignition starter switch and remove.

Unfasten shear-off screw with tool, e.g. chisel. Remove plate (1) and steering lock (2).

Installation: 

1. Tighten new shear-off screws to shearing point.

Remove lock cylinder and install in new steering lock, refer to 32 32 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING STEERING-LOCK CYLINDER .

Remove retaining paint, unscrew and remove grub screws and fit ignition starter switch to new steering lock.

Installation: 

1. Secure headless screws with varnish.
