Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera, Calibrating, Static Calibration (Stationary Calibration)
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- John Bean - Wheel Alignment Computer: VAS701001
- Setting Device - Basic Set: VAS6430/1A
- Camera: VAS6331/1
Calibrating the front camera is necessary:
Conditions
- The installation position of the Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera -R242- in the vehicle has changed.
- The Driver Assistance Systems Control Module -J1121- was replaced.
- Rear axle toe/chamber was adjusted.
Conditions
The calibration requirements must be met.
- Refer to CALIBRATION CONDITIONS
Procedure
The procedure is described on a John Bean - Wheel Alignment Computer: VAS701001 .
The procedure may vary if using other wheel alignment computers.
-- Note the test requirements. Refer to TEST REQUIREMENTS .
-- Perform the initial wheel alignment.
-- Select the button for the Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera -R242- calibration procedure in the wheel alignment computer.
Conditions
- The Setting Device - Basic Set: VAS6430/1A may not be moved on the calibration beam.
-- Make sure the calibration board is positioned in the center and is locked in place.
Conditions
- Dimension -a- = dimension -b-.
-- Position the Setting Device - Basic Set: VAS6430/1A at a distance of -a- 150 cm ± 2.5 cm from the center of the wheel hub on the front wheels to the beam on the setting device as shown.
- Measuring tape
-- Position the Camera: VAS6331/1 or Camera: VAS701001/1 -1- on the right side of the setting device and tighten it.
Conditions
- For the next step, the alignment rack must be at the lowest level position.
SUV Vehicles
-- Enter the height value -A- between the setting device contact patch and the wheel contact surface as shown in the illustration and enter it in the alignment computer.
Conditions
- Height of the calibration board: 1, 400 mm + height value -A-.
Non SUV Vehicles
-- Enter the height value -A- between the setting device contact patch and the wheel contact surface as shown in the illustration and enter it in the alignment computer.
Conditions
- Height of the calibration board: 1, 200 mm + height value -A-.
Continuation for all vehicles
-- Loosen the bolt -arrow- and place the measuring bar -1- on the floor.
-- Adjust the calibration board to the specified height -2- according to the wheel alignment computer using the crank -1-.
Conditions
- If the specified height was reached -2-, then the measuring bar must be pushed slightly upward and secured with the clamping screw.
- If in later procedures the height of the calibration board must be corrected, make sure the measuring bar is touching the ground when this is being done.
-- Balance the bubble level -A- using the adjusting screw -1-.
-- Slide the setting device to the side in direction of -arrows B-, until the display in the wheel alignment computer is in the tolerance range.
-- Tighten the bolts -2 and 3- by hand, to prevent the setting device from rolling away.
-- Turn the fine adjustment screw -1- until the display on the wheel alignment computer is within the tolerance range.
-- Balance the bubble level -A- using the adjusting screw -1-.
-- Level the bubble level -B- using the adjusting screws -2 and 3-.
Conditions
- Check the height of the calibration board again.
-- Perform the calibration function for the Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera -R242- using the. Refer to Diagnostic Entries .
-- Determine the height of the vehicle body -a- at all four wheels in the center of the wheel between the wheel contact surface and the lower edge of the fender or wheel housing.
-- Disconnect the battery charger. Refer to BATTERY, CHARGING .
