3.0L V6

  1. Unclip top engine cover and remove. Unbolt ribbed belt cover. Pinch off intake and return hoses with Clamps (3094). Unbolt line from flexible hose. See Fig 1.
  2. Disconnect expansion (pressure) hose at union. Bolt Pressure Gauge (VAG 1402) or equivalent, to expansion hose that leads to power steering pump. Close pressure gauge shut-off valve. Remove hose clamps from intake and return hoses. Start engine. With engine idling, read power steering pump pressure on gauge (do not measure for longer than 10 seconds).
  3. Pump pressure should be 110-120 bar (1595-1740 psi). If pump pressure is not within specification, replace pump.
  4. When pressure testing is complete, disconnect pressure gauge. Reinstall expansion hose. Check fluid level. Bleed steering system. See STEERING SYSTEM BLEEDING  under LUBRICATION. Check for leaks.
