  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II). Make sure the HDS communicates with the PCM. If it does not, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting (see DLC CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING ).
  3. Select Line Pressure Solenoid Valve A in the Miscellaneous Test Menu on the HDS.
  4. Check that line pressure solenoid valve A operate with the HDS. A clicking sound should be heard.
    • If a clicking sound is heard, the valve is OK. The test is complete, disconnect the HDS.
    • If no clicking sound is heard, go to step 5, and test the solenoid valve.
  5. Do the battery removal procedure (see RECONNECTION ).
  6. Remove the main under-hood fuse box from the battery base.
  7. Remove the intake air duct and the air cleaner housing.
  8. Remove the battery base and the battery base bracket.
  9. Remove the starter (see STARTER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
  10. Remove the secondary valve body (see SECONDARY VALVE BODY REPLACEMENT  ).
  11. Measure the resistance between line pressure solenoid valve A connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.

    Standard: 13.8-17.1 Ω

    • If the resistance is out of the standard, replace the secondary valve body, then go to step  13.
    • If the resistance is within the standard, go to step 12 and check the solenoid valve for a clicking sound.

  12. Connect a jumper wire from the negative battery terminal to line pressure solenoid valve A connector terminal No. 1, and connect another jumper wire from the positive battery terminal to connector terminal No. 2.
    • If a clicking sound is heard, repair the wire between the PCM connector terminal and line pressure solenoid valve A, then go to step 13.
    • If no clicking sound is heard, replace the secondary valve body, then go to step 13.
  13. Install the secondary valve body (see SECONDARY VALVE BODY REPLACEMENT  ).
  14. Install the starter (see STARTER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
  15. Install the battery base bracket and the battery base.
  16. Install the air cleaner housing and the intake air duct.
  17. Install the main under-hood fuse box on the battery base.
  18. Do the battery installation procedure (see RECONNECTION ).
