Secondary Valve Body Replacement
- Do the battery removal procedure (see RECONNECTION ).
- Remove the main under-hood fuse box from the battery base.
- Remove the intake air duct and the air cleaner housing.
- Remove the battery base and the battery base bracket.
- Disconnect the transmission range switch connector.
- Remove the starter (see STARTER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the front undercover (see FRONT UNDERCOVER REPLACEMENT ) and the splash shield (see SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT ).
- Disconnect the ATF temperature sensor connector (A), then remove the harness clamps (B).
- Disconnect the shift solenoid valve C connector (A).
- Remove the harness clamp (B) from the dipstick guide tube.
- Disconnect the transmission fluid pressure switch C (4th clutch) connector (A), then remove the harness clamp (B).
- Disconnect the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor connector (A) and the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor connector (B), then remove the harness clamp (C). Remove the harness cover (D) from the ATF filter holder.
- Disconnect these connectors:
- Transmission fluid pressure switch E (6th clutch) connector (A)
- Transmission fluid pressure switch B (3rd clutch) connector (B)
- A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve D connector (C)
- A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A connector (D)
- A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve B connector (E)
- A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve C connector (F)
- Line pressure switch connector (G)
- Line pressure solenoid valve A connector (H)
- Shift solenoid valve B connector (I)
- Shift solenoid valve A connector (J)
- Remove the harness cover mounting bolts (K) and the harness cover bracket (L), then remove the harness cover (M).
- Remove the dipstick guide tube (A).
- Remove the secondary valve body (A) and the gasket (B).NOTE: There are 11 ATF pipes. Do not drop the ATF pipes into the transmission. If an ATF pipe is dropped into the transmission, the transmission will need to be disassembled to recover the pipe (s).
- Remove the ATF pipes (C).
- Replace the secondary valve body.
- Clean the mounting surfaces of the transmission housing. Do not allow dust or other foreign particles to enter the transmission.
- Apply ATF to new O-rings (A), and install the O-rings over the ATF pipes (B). Then install the ATF pipes with the filter ends (C) facing the secondary valve body (D) into the transmission (E).
- Install a new gasket (F) to transmission.
- Install the secondary valve body while aligning the ATF pipes with the pipe holes on the secondary valve body, and secure the secondary valve body with the bolts.
- Install the dipstick guide tube (A).
- Check the connectors for rust, dirt, or oil, and clean or repair if necessary, then connect the connectors securely.
- Secure the harness cover (A) and the harness cover bracket (B) with the bolt, then install the harness cover (C).
- Connect these connectors:
- Transmission fluid pressure switch E (6th clutch) connector (D)
- Transmission fluid pressure switch B (3rd clutch) connector (E)
- A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve D connector (F)
- A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve A connector (G)
- A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve B connector (H)
- A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve C connector (I)
- Line pressure switch connector (J)
- Line pressure solenoid valve A connector (K)
- Shift solenoid valve B connector (L)
- Shift solenoid valve A connector (M)
- Connect the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor connector (A) and the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor connector (B), then install the harness clamp (C). Install the harness cover (D) to the ATF filter holder.

- Connect the shift solenoid valve C connector (A).
- Install the harness clamp (B) to the dipstick guide tube.
- Connect the ATF temperature sensor connector (A), then install the harness clamps (B).
- Install the splash shield (see SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT ) and the front undercover (see FRONT UNDERCOVER REPLACEMENT ).
- Install the starter (see STARTER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
- Connect the transmission range switch connector.
- Install the battery base bracket and the battery base.
- Install the air cleaner housing and the intake air duct.
- Install the main under-hood fuse box on the battery base.
- Do the battery installation procedure (see RECONNECTION ).
