DTC 72: Steering Angle Sensor (Software)
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 91 or 92 indicated with DTC 72 at the same time?
YES -Do the DTC 91 or 92 troubleshooting: DTC 91 (see DTC 91: F-CAN COMMUNICATION ), DTC 92 (see DTC 92: F-CAN SYSTEM (BUS-OFF) ).
NO -Go to step 3.
- Put the vehicle on a level surface, and center the steering wheel spokes.
- Check STEERING ANGLE in the VSA DATA LIST with the HDS.
With the front wheels in the straight ahead position, is STEERING ANGLE 0° ± 5°?
YES -Go to step 5.
NO -Check the installation of the steering angle sensor (see STEERING ANGLE SENSOR REPLACEMENT ). If installation is good, do the steering angle sensor center point writing (see STEERING ANGLE SENSOR CENTER POINT WRITING ).
- Check the wheel alignment (see
WHEEL ALIGNMENT
).
Is the wheel alignment within the specification?
YES -Go to step 6.
NO -Make sure the suspension is not modified, adjust the wheel alignment correctly, then go to step 6.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Test-drive the vehicle around a number of corners.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 72 indicated?
YES -Replace the VSA modulator-control unit (see VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
NO -The system is OK at this time.
