Cruise Control Communication Circuit

  1. Drive vehicle at speed over 25 MPH. Activate and set cruise control. If cruise control operates, go to next step. If cruise control does not operate, check cruise control unit or cruise control actuator. See CRUISE CONTROL UNIT INPUT  under SYSTEM TESTS. See CRUISE CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY  under COMPONENTS TESTS.
  2. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 8 (Blue/Green wire) of cruise control unit harness connector (backprobe). See Fig 1 . If about one volt exists, go to next step. If about one volt does not exist, replace cruise control unit.
  3. Measure voltage between ground and terminal A5 (Blue/Green wire) of PCM 32-pin harness connector "A" by backprobing. See Fig 2 . PCM is located below right center of instrument panel, behind carpet. If about one volt exists, check for loose PCM 32-pin connector "A". If connector is okay, substitute a known-good PCM and recheck. If symptom goes away, replace original PCM. If about one volt does not exist, repair short or open in Blue/Green wire between terminal A5 of PCM 32-pin harness connector and terminal No. 8 of cruise control unit harness connector.
