DTC 1-8: High-Pressure System

WARNING: Accumulator contains high-pressure nitrogen gas. DO NOT puncture, expose to flame or attempt to disassemble accumulator. Explosion and serious injury could result.
  1. Check accumulator and relief plug for any gas leakage. See Fig 1 . Replace accumulator if any leak is found. See ACCUMULATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If accumulator and relief plug are okay, start engine and allow it to run until ABS indicator light goes out, then stop engine. Repeat procedure 10 times. If ABS indicator light goes out each time engine is started, system has returned to normal. If ABS indicator light does not go out each time engine is started, go to next step.
  2. Recheck DTC(s). If a code other than DTC 1-8 is set, see appropriate DTC. If DTC 1-8 is reset, check amount of accumulator discharge when system pressure is relieved. See RELIEVING ACCUMULATOR/LINE PRESSURE  under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM. Accumulator should discharge 1.3-1.7 ozs. If amount of accumulator discharge is not as specified, replace accumulator. If amount of accumulator discharge is as specified or if DTC resets after accumulator replacement, replace ABS modulator unit.
