General Information About The VOLVO On Call Function
Since Volvo On Call and smart phones rely on GPS and GSM technology which are based on the idea of a "clear line of sight from the sky" there are built in limitations. If the reception conditions are poor some features may lose part of or all of their functions. This might be the case e.g. if the vehicle is in an underground parking garage with poor or no GPS and GSM reception.
The Volvo On Call app cannot retrieve all data from the vehicle while it is in use. The vehicle will send data batches to the central Volvo On Call server every time the engine is turned off and the key is removed (vehicles with keyless entry: the key needs to be on such a distance that it does not have contact with the vehicle anymore). The vehicle will still try to send data for the Journal Log function when the vehicle is in use.
There are several possible reasons why a remote function does not behave as expected. Intermittent interference may temporarily affect the functions. If possible, run the diagnostic function in the Volvo On Call app to identify the source of any problems affecting the Volvo On Call service.
