The engine control module (ECM) checks the signal of the starter motor relay coil. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) detects that the signal is high despite the ignition switch being in position II (ignition position).

The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed when the ignition is on.

Substitute Value 

• Nothing.

Possible Source 

• The signal cable is short-circuited to voltage.
• Damaged starter motor relay.
