Condition

The engine control module (ECM) checks the signal of the starter motor relay coil. The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) detects that the signal is low despite the ignition switch being in position III (start position).

The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed when the engine is started.

Substitute Value 

• Nothing.

Possible Source 

• The signal cable is short-circuited to ground.
• Open-circuit on the signal cable.
• Damaged starter motor relay.
• Open-circuit on the power supply to the starter motor.

Fault symptom[s] 

• The starter motor does not operate.
