Checking The Status

Start the engine and run it to normal operating temperature
Read off and note the adaptation value for the camshaft at idle speed. The value must be between -8° and +8°.
If the adaptation value is correct (between -8° and +8°) the fault is intermittent. If the adaptation value is incorrect (lower than -8° or higher than +8°), the fault is permanent.
