The engine control module (ECM) controls the fuel temperature signal while driving. This is done through the control module comparing values from the intake, fuel and engine temperature sensors. If the signal from the fuel temperature sensor matches a temperature that exceeds a certain limit in relation to the other, the control module interprets this as a malfunction and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is generated.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) can be diagnosed when the engine is idling.
