Checking The Cable And Component
If the car is equipped with a Road Traffic Information (RTI) system, disconnect the RTI switch from the electrical radio and audio switch.
This is so that the fault can be located.
Read off the status of the buttons in the audio/carphone switch.
If any of the buttons are activated without having been manually activated, the fault is in the RTI switch.
Disconnect the lower switch from the audio and radio switch. This is so that the fault can be located.
Read off the status of the buttons in the audio/carphone switch.
If any of the buttons are activated without having been manually activated, the fault is in the radio and audio switch.
Disconnect the lower switch from the cruise control switch. This is so that the fault can be located.
Read off the status of the buttons in the audio/carphone switch.
If any of the buttons are activated without having been manually activated, the fault is in the cruise control switch, or in the cable between the cruise control switch and the radio and carphone switch.
Remedy as necessary.

Check the cable between the audio and carphone switch terminals #1, #2, #3 and cruise control switch terminals #1, #2, #3. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage.
Remedy as necessary.
