Navigation System, RTI [2012-2015]: Introduction
INFORMATION
- Read through all of the instructions before starting installation.
- Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimize the risk of something breaking during installation.
- Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available before starting installation.
- Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images. Explanatory text is also given for more complicated steps.
- In the event of any problems with the instructions or the accessory, contact your local Volvo dealer.
COLOR SYMBOLS
This color chart displays (in color print and electronic version) the importance of the different colors used in the images of the method steps.
- Used for focused component, the component with which you will do something.
- Used as extra colors when you need to show or differentiate additional parts.
- Used for attachments that are to be removed/installed. May be screws, clips, connectors, etc.
- Used when the component is not fully removed from the vehicle but only hung to the side.
- Used for standard tools and special tools.
- Used as background color for vehicle components.
REMOVAL
Remove the panel.
Disconnect the connector.
Disconnect the connector.

CARS WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS:
Release the shift-lock function.
Remove the panel.
Remove the panel.
Fold the carpet aside.
- Unhook the cable harness clips.
- Disconnect the connector.
VEHICLES WITH THE 4C SYSTEM:
Remove the panel.
Disconnect the connector.
ALL VEHICLES:
Disconnect the connector.
Remove the screws.
Remove the panel.
ACCESSORY INSTALLATION
Install component that comes with the accessory kit.
INSTALLATION
Install the panel.
Reinstall the screws.
Connect the connector.
VEHICLES WITH 5 INCH ICM-DISPLAY:
Carefully pry loose the bottom edge of the panel and then continue around the panel.

Remove the screws.
Disconnect the connector.

ACCESSORY INSTALLATION
Clean the surface.
Use: Isopropanol, 1161721
Remove the protective film.
Install component that comes with the accessory kit.
Ensure that the tape is fixed to the surface.
Locate the pre-routed connector.
Remove the foam bag.
The number of connectors may vary depending on the vehicle's equipment level.
Connect the pre-routed cable.
Connect the connectors.
Reinstall the screws.
Install component that comes with the accessory kit.
Connect the connector temporarily.
Download software (application) for the accessory's function according to the service information in VIDA. See VIDA or the Volvo accessories catalogue for software part number.
Order and download the appropriate Volvo software.
REMOVAL
ALL VEHICLES:
Set the ignition key to position I.
Remove the battery's negative cable.
The supplemental restraint system (SRS) is active for a certain length of time after the power supply has been disconnected. Wait for a minimum of 30 seconds before disconnecting or removing any SRS components.
Release the lock.
Remove the panel.
Remove the panel.
Repeat the steps when removing on opposite side.
Turn the steering wheel into neutral position.
Release the connector catches.
Disconnect the connectors.
Place the airbag module with the front side facing up in a safe storage area during work.

ACCESSORY INSTALLATION
Install component that comes with the accessory kit.
Connect the connector.

REMOVAL

VEHICLES WITH VOLVO ON CALL:
Remove the panel.
Remove the weatherstrip.
The front and upper sill panel must be removed and installed as one unit.
Remove the panel.

Fold the carpet aside.
Locate the existing connectors in the vehicle's cable harness.
Locate the pre-routed connector.
Disconnect the connector.
Attach the connector to the wiring harness.
The cable harness must not be reused.
ACCESSORY INSTALLATION
Connect the cable harness terminals in the connector as follows.
A click confirms that the component is in the correct position.
Depress the secondary lock.
Connect the connector.
Route the cable harness to the existing cable harness.
Install the cable.
Connect the cable harness terminals in the connector as follows.
A click confirms that the component is in the correct position.
Depress the secondary lock.
Place any excess inside the floor carpet.
Make sure to locate the wiring in such a way that any damage caused by heat or excessive wear is avoided.
Pull the wiring through.
ALL VEHICLES:
VEHICLES WITH 5 INCH ICM-DISPLAY:
Locate the pre-routed connectors.
Remove the foam bags.
VEHICLES WITH 7 INCH DISPLAY:
Locate the pre-routed connector.
Remove the foam bag.
VEHICLES WITH VOLVO ON CALL:
Locate the pre-routed connector.
Remove the foam bag.
ALL VEHICLES:
Connect the pre-routed cables.
Connect the connectors.
Install component that comes with the accessory kit.
Reinstall the screws.
INSTALLATION
Reinstall the removed parts in reverse order.
Reinstall the battery's negative cable.
When switching the ignition on for the first time after a battery disconnect and connect, make sure to stand outside the vehicle and only reach into the vehicle keeping clear of the air bag deployment areas.
