The engine control module (ECM) checks the signal of the starter motor relay coil.

The diagnostic trouble code is generated if the engine control module (ECM) detects that there is no signal from the starter relay.

Substitute Value 

• Nothing.

Possible Source 

• Open-circuit on the signal cable.

Fault symptom[s] 

• The starter motor does not operate.
