Checking Components And Wiring

Check the signal cable for the microphone between phone module (PHM) connector B terminal #14 (#56) and handset connector terminal #2 (#22). Check for a short-circuit to ground.

Try replacing the carphone handset if no fault is found in the wiring.

Remedy as necessary.
